Sambar Deer

The sambar deer, a large species native to Thailand, boasts an impressive stature, with males weighing up to 300 kg and standing at 1.9 meters tall. Adorned with a brownish-gray coat adorned with white spots and imposing antlers on males that span up to 1.8 meters, the sambar deer primarily inhabits evergreen forests but can also be spotted in open grasslands and scrublands. Its diet primarily consists of fruits, herbs, and grasses. In Thailand, the sambar deer enjoys protected status, and hunting is unequivocally prohibited.
