Masked Palm Civet

The masked palm civet (Paguma larvata), a native of Thailand, inhabits the country's tropical and subtropical forests, primarily emerging during nocturnal hours. Sporting a slender frame with a long body and short legs, its fur typically features dark grey or brown hues adorned with white or pale-yellow facial, back, and tail stripes. The masked palm civet sustains itself by preying on small mammals, birds, and other diminutive creatures. This species stands as a crucial focal point for conservation in Thailand, as its numbers in the wild face decline due to habitat loss and hunting, warranting a "vulnerable" designation by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
