Giant Softshell Turtle

The Giant Softshell Turtle is a species native to Thailand and can be found in many of the country's freshwater rivers and canals. This unique turtle has a large, flattened shell which helps it to swim and hide from predators, making it very well adapted to its environment. It is an endangered species and is currently listed as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). In Thailand, the Giant Softshell Turtle is protected by the Wildlife Preservation and Protection Act, and is also protected by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
