Songkran

Songkran, celebrated from April 13th to 15th, marks the Thai New Year and is one of the most vibrant and eagerly anticipated festivals in Thailand. Known for its exhilarating water fights, Songkran symbolizes cleansing, renewal, and the washing away of misfortunes from the past year. Streets become lively battlegrounds as locals and tourists alike splash water on each other in a spirit of fun and goodwill. Beyond the playful festivities, Songkran retains its cultural and spiritual significance. Traditional practices include visiting temples to offer prayers, pouring water over Buddha statues, and performing the ritual of Rod Nam Dum Hua—a respectful water blessing for elders. Families come together for reunions and merit-making ceremonies, strengthening bonds and honoring traditions. Whether you immerse yourself in the lively street celebrations or partake in the serene customs, Songkran is a unique and refreshing way to welcome the new year.
