Ghost Festival

Phi Ta Khon, also known as the Ghost Festival, is a unique and colorful event celebrated annually in the Dan Sai district of Loei Province, Thailand. Rooted in Buddhist and animist traditions, the festival commemorates the legend of the Buddha's reincarnation as Prince Vessantara and the joyful return of spirits accompanying him. The highlight of the festival is the parade, where locals wear elaborate masks and costumes resembling playful spirits, complete with tall, pointed headdresses and vibrant colors. Participants dance, play pranks, and perform traditional music, creating an electrifying atmosphere.
